Can I add a custom menu entry on right click in konqueror?
I want to be able to select files and directories and add them to a compressed backup file, or create a new backup file to use simply by right click and select "compress with ark" or something like that.

Found it, I had to install tdeaddons-trinity

You could create custom konqueror service menu too. Please find example service menu file in the attachment, and copy it into the '$HOME/.trinity/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/' folder.
It will create 'krusader' context menu entry of the 'My Computer' desktop icon, just right click on the 'My Computer' desktop icon.

Thanks guys, that's a great little tip.

In addition, you can define different menu actions for different file types, see 'X-TDE-ServiceTypes' entry.

Thanks, I've been looking through the default entries in /opt/trinity/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/ for examples too.

I also had this same question now...
Helped me a lot.

@Dai_trying, did you create the custom command for Ark by right clicking?
If so, can you post here please?
Grateful!

I installed tdeaddons-trinity package which added a lot of other packages but it was the simplest solution, just remember to log-out and back in to implement the addons. If you are having trouble creating it and don't want to install the addons I will look into it for you, let me know.

Yes, I wanted to create the command natively, without the need to install the addons...

I just had a little look into this and although I can make it work sometimes I cannot figure out (at the moment) how to get it working properly.
I also looked at the packages and have found the package konq-plugins-trinity which has the required plugins and will only download a few dependencies (some of which might be required to get it working properly anyway) which could be a better choice.
Natively I cannot get what I would call a working solution and as this is available without the large download of the full trinity addons package I would say konq-plugins-trinity would be the recommended solution to this.

Humm, interesting...
I'll follow your suggestion and take a slow look at these two packages that you've indicated (tdeaddons-trinity and konq-plugins-trinity).
Greetings!
