It's Debian.
You can read on our front page:
Q4OS goal is to provide long-term supported system receiving security updates. This is exactly what Debian base guarantees. We prefer the Debian development model to keep the core system as immutable as possible. It results in a reliable and stable system that you can definitely rely on ... https://www.q4os.org . There could be a few exceptions including Q4OS native tools, that don't belong to the essential system core.

Q4OS is the easiest way to get a fast Debian install, without the minor difficulties, that come with a Debian install, plus you get the added Q4OS features.
Regardless of this, I still prefer to have Q4OS branding versus all the stock Debian themes.

... for example Desktop profiler, which offers an easy way to get much lighter system than a standard Debian installation

Yes, we include Debonaire/light and Darkonair/dark themes.

I just learned about Q4os and did not donate when I downloaded Aquarius because I wanted to test it out first. This is a big "Thank You!" I have an older HP Mini which I had messed up--could not access the boot menu or the BIOS because I did not have the admin password. Thought I was going to have to spend money on a repair or junk it. I am also a Linux newbie but intent on moving away from MS Windows.
Long story short: I downloaded the Aquarius file to a Ventoy flash drive and the file's built in boot was able to access my Mini! I have since installed the program with a complete erasure of the disk--eliminating whatever was giving me grief--and it works great! I just took it to the library today and was able to attend to my tasks without an issue. ( I would like to figure out how to change that ugly orange "info" box color.) lol... Anyway, Thanks! And I will be making a donation now.
