How do i delete a file or folder on a usb drive?

When plugged in, the contents of a usb stick can be viewed and accessed eg. via konqueror, it's location is "system:/media/sdb1".
But how can one delete e file or a folder on it - the context menu entry (Move to trash) is greyed out?
I didn't find anything useful on the web so far.
Thank you

Most likely you don't have write permissions. Try to remove files as root.
