I have installed latest q4os 32 bit.
I want to recompile kernel making some changes.
Can anyone help on how to recompile it?
I can see the conf file in /boot directory. I want to make some changes there and recompile it.

No, Q4OS uses the default vanilla Debian kernel.

ok thanks.
What about the config files. when i download the kernel sources and do make etc. without any changes will it produce the exactly same kernel as in distro?

when i am downloading sources via apt-get its downloading linix-5.10.162 whereas uname -r shows 5.10.0.21-686-pae

ok realized apt-get should run as normal user to get the sources.

Recompiling takes a huge time on Via C7-D 1.6ghz single core processor
In the mean time, I installed mx kernel which comes with config_hz 1000 and also installed debian kernel from backports 6.1
the 6.1 kernel is visibly faster and Debian is going to include it in their Debian 12 as standard kernel.
So I am happy using 6.1 from backports. After mxlinux also create theor own 6.1 kernel woth 1000 hz will let know the results.
as of now am happy using 6.1 kernel from debian backports.

You can install Debian backports kernel including matching firmware easily in Q4OS, see https://www.q4os.org/dqa011.html#system.6

Done that by adding debian backports repository.
