Helping with Q4OS translations to any language is highly appreciated. The best and most easy way is to contribute to our 'q4os-i18n' project. We have published 'q4os-i18n' Git project here: https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-i18n
If anyone want to help, there are two ways:
1. If you are familiar with the "Git" collaboration tool, please register at https://github.com/ . You will be able to upload translated files by Git pull requests. If you're interested, we can also set permissions, so that you can contribute to the Git tree directly, we can easily sync our work with Git.
2. Alternatively, you can simply download archive with all translation files here: https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-i18n/a … master.zip . Find all files for language specific translations "somefile-xx.po" and translate related '.po' files using 'Poedit' application https://poedit.net/ . You will send finished via e-mail develop@q4os.org

Hello. I plan to update one of the translations.
And I have a couple of questions about this:
1. Do I really have to keep editing the already existing .po files in the xx directory or can I just start over using the .pot templates from the .pot_empty directory?
Why am I asking: some existing .po files contain some mysterious commented lines like
#~ msgid "passed OK !"
etc., that don't show up in Poedit. I suspect that this is something outdated or excluded strings, right? There are no such lines in the templates either.
2. Сan I somehow pre-check how the translation strings will fit on UI elements and how it will stack, etc.? I mean before it went to "production". Different languages have different word lengths, there are cases and declensions, and so on, well, you know. Something like a non-public package for testing.

Yes, they are outdated, just don't translate them.

Yes, compile the .po into .mo files using poedit, and copy them into their right placing, for ex. Welcome screen: /usr/share/locale/<lnagcode>/LC_MESSAGES/welcome-screen.mo

Hi,
I have installed Q4OS, and I have this untranslated sentence : "Full featured Desktop with Web Browser, Office Suite and recommended applications set." and some others like that.
In the desktop-profiler.po I found the translation (in french) but has been commented.
I don't understand why this is not translated.

@Simon44
Some strings are not included in Q4OS translation subsystem yet. They will be included later, we are working on that, thanks for the note.
