LXTerminal 0.3.2 strange resizing in Trinity

When I change the font size or open a new tab in LXTerminal 0.3.2 the window spontaneously resizes to unusable dimensions. When I change the font size the window shrinks horizontally so that it is just wide enough to display the menu bar. When I add a tab it shrinks vertically to show just a couple of lines in the window. It allows me to drag the window boundaries out but when I release the mouse button it immediately snaps back to the size it was.

The exact same version on a Raspberry Pi is perfectly well-behaved.

What am I missing?

Roy

Not able to reproduce this in TDE.

Please could you run inxi -F then copy and paste output in between

Re: LXTerminal 0.3.2 strange resizing in Trinity

VMWare - adds a bit of complication smile

Suggest you burn to USB, boot off USB and then install lxterminal via command line.

See what happens.

Re: LXTerminal 0.3.2 strange resizing in Trinity

No need to mess about with USB sticks. I have the exact same software installed on bare metal. The problem reproduces exactly as on the VM.

Re: LXTerminal 0.3.2 strange resizing in Trinity

We can confirm and reproduce the issue. We will investigate that and post back.

Re: LXTerminal 0.3.2 strange resizing in Trinity

The issue looks to be upstream Trinity bug, as it's reproducible on vanilla Trinity/Debian stable system too. It depends on the GTK3 applications theme configuration. You can easily workaround the bug changing the GTK theme in the "$HOME/.configtde/gtk-3.0/settings_trinity.ini", set the line "gtk-theme-name=Adwaita" . If you use for example "Breeze" theme, the terminal behaves exactly the way you have described. We consider this issue as upstream bug, so reporting for Trinity developers would be helpful.

Is that something I need to do?

No, however you can:
1. workaround the issue to suppress that on your system, see above
2. report a bug for upstream Trinity developers http://trinitydesktop.org/
