Re: No internet connection!

I have tried to surf a few minutes, and I have found two webpages which do that same thing, but it was OK for the others... (I was obliged to power down the PC):

unreachable code after return statement is something I would be concerned about if I were writing this page, and possibly a candidate for responsibility.

But I don't see anything too bad here.

So I think the problem is likely to be badly designed web pages rather than a problem with the browser, and out of interest I checked my own website and it reported no errors at all, but I don't use a lot of javascript so that is likely the main area of concern.

Out of interest have you tried disabling javascript? I use Toggle JavaScript [Enabled/Disabled] by riis which gives me a button on my toolbar to enable/disable javascript, it might be worth looking into. Both of these sites seem to work with javascript disabled (and no console errors either).

Re: No internet connection!

Hello! Hello!

I have installed toogle javascript. Here are the results:

For the site: https://www.leboncoin.fr/ventes_immobilieres/offres/

...I can surf on it but most links don't work. However, it's possible to do everything by this way: first disable javascript, and if a link doesn't work, enable it just the time to click on it, and disable javascript immediatly after.

For the site: https://www.nytimes.com/

I have seen no improvement, my PC have frozen.

For the site https://www.gettyimages.fr/photos/erol- … st#license

It works fine when I disable javascript, but when I have tried to close the web broser, the PC have frozen. In the last two case, I was obliged to switch off the power again...

Re: No internet connection!

I think I have a similar spec laptop somewhere, I will try and find it tomorrow and install Q4OS to see if I get any similar issues, the only thing I wont be ablr to replicate is the ppoe connection as I have standard adsl here, but I will take a look and see what happens with those websites.

One other thing you could post is the result of

LC_ALL=C ip addr

although I'm not sure if it will show anything that is not in inxi output.

Re: No internet connection!

It's very kind of you, thank you very much for your help and for what you do.

Here is the output of LC_ALL=C ip addr:

.......................................

I would want to ask you two questions:

First, I have an other old computer with the same CPU but with an other motherboard. May I connect the hard drive on which I have installed Q4OS directly on it and boot up, or have I to reinstall Q4OS on an other HD to boot up that other computer?

Secondly, how can I clone my (very old) HD with Q4OS on an other HD? May I use XXclone from windows XP?

Re: No internet connection!

I don't see anything obvious and it looks like the ppoe connection is active. If that is your real IP ADDRESS please edit it out of your post in case it might cause you security problems (I don't know how secure pppoe is)
And to your questions:

First :
Yes, simply replace the HDD and it should boot without issue (if it works on the first one). There are a couple of caveats though, if the hdd contains a standard BIOS boot install then the other machine would need to be set the same, if the system is UEFI you might need to perform some other steps first, although this will depend on the make, some are better than others. Also there is a slight chance that graphics driver might prevent start up but Q4OS has been very reliable for me when swapping drives.

Secondly :
This can be easily done from the command line with the command dd but be warned entering the wrong command or sequence of commands/parameters could wipe your HDD which would be time consuming (but not impossible) to recover and it is highly likely you would lose at least some data and definitely not regain a reusable system. If you need some help with this it might be best to open another thread specifically for it to make it easier to find in case it helps other users too.
Also you would need to be able to boot to a stable live session (any Linux OS will work for this) if you want to clone the whole hdd.

Re: No internet connection!

Thank you very much!

Sorry, I have deleted the entire ouput in my previous post, because it was my real IP adress and as I am a beginner, I don't know exactly what I was supposed to suppress in it!...
