You can move the mouse over the tdeowersave icon and use the mouse wheel to adjust brightness, if thats all you need.

klcddimmer-trinity uses xbacklight as the backend, so you need to install and configure it first. Configuring klcddimmer should be easy and intuitive then.

Tdepowersave functionality with mouse or touchpoad gesture is essentially the same.
