Microphone with 3.5 jack audio not working

How to fix it?

Kmixer capture etc already active
Using pulse & or intel, has the same result, no sound from external microphone. Just recorded from internal mic.

On asus x201ev 1.6 ghz Intel Celeron with Hardisk
Full TDE package profiler

According to this review, your notebook has microphone/headphone combo jack.
And in ASUS support page is written, that if you want to use the external microphone function, the three-conductor 3.5 mm microphone will not work after plug into the Notebook audio combo jack.
So, consider to use a four-conductor 3.5 mm headphone with microphone device.
Also, you can try 3.5 mm Splitter cable, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Kingtop-Adapter- … =8-19&th=1
I have been using these headphones for 6 months, and I am very happy with them.
