Re: "Package system busy" ?

My guess is that there has been some changes to the original Q4OS image and we would not be able to troubleshoot your problem without finding out what they are.
My best suggestion would be to download the Q4OS Pi image and burn it to SD Card and try that to see if you get the same error, that is if you have a spare SD Card to try it.
I recently (a few days ago) was given an old Pi (original) with only 256Mb memory and a 700Mhz cpu but version 1806 runs fine and shows no update errors, in fact it runs surprisingly well considering the hardware it has to work with smile

Re: "Package system busy" ?

@sfb2
The described issue is not normal in Q4OS. You could check which processes are blocking APT operations. Just run in terminal:
$ check-apt-busy
$ ps -ef
and post output here to analyze.

We can recommend you to follow Dai_trying's advice above as well.

Re: "Package system busy" ?

This message means the key file ' /var/cache/apt/archives/lock' has incorrect permissions set, or it's missing completely in Berryboot image. We can only recommend you to use the official Q4OS RPi image, please see Dai_trying's post above. We will check the Berryboot image in a few days and post final result here.

Re: "Package system busy" ?

I know that this is an old post but I was able to solve this issue as I have the same setup where I use Berryboot.
First time I loaded the q4os berryboot image I've got the same ERROR message "package system busy" whenever I try to install the Default Profiler. The solution was really easy:

On the first time you login, run the following into the terminal:
#sudo apt-get update
#sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

This will update all the packages...may time some time.
Once done, REBOOT! DO NOT install or setup anything yet!

On your next login, try to install the default profiler again.
