Initially tested it on my test system and installed it on my main system today. Its one of the easiest distros to install ive ever seen, particularly with the installation cd.
Memory usage was 266mb before tweaking at main screen and Ive gotten it down to 245mb but thats already very low. Resource usage on the cpu is amazingly low with a crisp and quick feel to the OS. No issues with the install and ive already done 10 installs of this version. No issues with the live cd as well so congrats to the devs. Ive been running it with a variety of apps and no issues have cropped up so far.
Took about 30 minutes to install but up to 45minutes with a few tweaks. Very few apps to install as Ksensors was already installed along with Chrome,Thunderbird and Libreoffice. I installed hardinfo, audacious and a few extra codecs with the classic menu.
Ill post back once Ive used it more.

Youtube, videos, VLC, Audacious, LibreOffice all seem to work great after install. No issues with ethernet/wifi connection and driver for my HP printer was already available and installed flawlessly.
As you can tell I used the full desktop profile which for me gives me an almost effortless install experience. For most newbies your experience should be the same and when in doubt the installation cd has a no questions asked install which is great if you intend to install Q4OS as your only OS on the hard drive.
I use it as an automated installed for the many pcs Ive installed it on so far. Want slightly more control just use the classic install and Id honestly stick to the full desktop install.
Love the wallpaper selection as I added the other Trinity wallpaper packes with Synaptic, and having Synaptic preinstalled in great for all concerned.
Simple translucency setting in panel config really allows any wallpaper to integrate very well.
Now to pop over and pick up a few of MC's wallpapers to finish it off.
The only annoying aspect of the install was the fact that the screen blacked out every 15 minutes or so while the desktop profile was installing and you have to hit a keyboard button to wake it up. I wish it would default to presentation mode during that portion of the install.

So far everything is working well and its one of the most problem free installs ive ever done. Ive been installing it on some customer and non-profit client systems with the installation disk and talk about quick/easy with very little setup once done.

I actually have to reinstall it already. No fault of the OS, though. I was going through this laptops BIOS, and saw that it supports UEFI. Myself, I LOVE EFI + GPT, makes SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more sense than MBR to me. So I activated UEFI and turned off all the legacy support. So that means no EFI partition which means no bootable devices.
Upside, EFI usually does boot a bit faster, which is this laptops achilles heal (takes 20 seconds just to complete post, compared to my newer laptops that from hitting power button, I'm on my desktop in under 20 seconds).

I had no luck installing 2.4 32bit on my Dell D430, Mint XFCE 18.2 , Lubuntu 16.04 didnt like it either. Really didnt want to go back to Orion 1.8.8(great distro but want to move forward with 2.4) so ended up using WattOS R10 which installed without a hitch. I dislike UEFI myself. These D430s are fussy laptops.
So far 2.4 has worked on everything, even my other older laptops and pcs till now. Just shows how much hardware can vary and differences/problems with bios.

I find it interesting that the D430 using Chromium can run Youtube videos in full screen at 720p with no issues. Firefox cant do that as I end up running in the theater screen(smaller screen) at 360p.

If you're running Firefox ESR, I'm not surprised. 52 is still garbage. Even on my E7470 (Core i7 6600U, 32 GB ram, 512 GB SSD), I couldn't have more than 3 tabs open at once in Firefox without performance dropping to the point of unusability with v52. 54 started improving, 56 actually is to the point where it's not bad, probably nearly on par with Chrome/Chromium again, and 57 is supposed to be faster than Chrome even (I haven't tested it).

Hi all,
<cloak of invisibility />
Just chucking my tuppence worth in.
I've tried a lot of distros over the years, and have lately preferred to stick with XFCE as my DE, as it is very easy to work with, very configurable, and with a little tweaking can look very nice.
Following the announcement on DW, I thought that I would give Q4OS a try.
And it is absolutely brilliant !!!!
An awesome distro, and deserves to be a lot more widely-used than currently.
The trinity implementation is very stable, and lightning fast, resource usage is low, it is a real pleasure to use.
Extremely well-done, Q4OS team, and all others who have helped with this distro.
'Tis now my daily driver - I know a good thing when I see it !
Now, if only I could get 'get_iplayer' from the repo.? Devs, please? I am prepared to grovel if necessary!
Right, back into the woodwork...
<cloak of invisib...
Damn, the batteries are flat again......
Cheers, guys,

Welcome to the site pippin and I use both XFCE and TDE with Q4OS as my feelings are the same in regards to XFCE. My hope is more people will jump on the bandwagon and the reviews over at Distrowatch appear to be showing that trend. At GUI after boot Im using 234mbs which is amazing but the performance of TDE feels even quicker.
To tlmiller, Ive had the same issue with Firefox ESR 52 and Firefox 56 with the D430.
Firefox 57 though is almost here.
I also use Opera and Midori which are both very quick browsers.

Pippen from what Ive read iPlayer uses Adobe Air which isnt supported in Linux. Linux can be used to view the website though.

Hiya CC,
Yes, the 'official' BBC Iplayer does indeed use Air, if I remember correctly. So not usable on Linux (not tried Wine though).
But there is a program called 'get_iplayer' for Linux, which runs from the CLI, which can be used to download BBC TV and radio programs. The current version is 3.0.5, I think. It uses Perl, ffmpeg, etc.
The Ubuntu repos carry it, also I believe the Arch and Fedora repos, but it seems to be sadly missing from the Debian repo.
Details here: https://squarepenguin.co.uk/
Not a deal-breaker, but it would be nice to have it.
Cheers,
Phil

You might want to post your request in the feature request forum so the devs see it more easily.
I saw the info on get_iplayer in the Mint forums but it appears there are some issues with it for some users but havent used it so cant comment.

I relented and installed Orion 1.8.8 on the Dell D430 even though I used Scorpion 2.4 on all my other devices. Decided not to struggle and use what works.
Performance is excellent and no hardware issues at all.

I began using Q4OS Orion around 1.4 and it had growing pains and evolved over time to be very good. Scorpion 2.4 has been flawless so far in a variety of uses and seems to have benefited from the earlier experiences.
Its rare when I can have such a good experience with a distro upon its first stable release.
If you havent given it a try please do whether its the live cd or the installation cd.
