Need a little help. I wanted to try and play some audio CD's and they won't play. I tried deadbeef and rhythmbox. Neither one will play the CD. There is a small icon on the bottom that asks what program you'd like to run the CD with but when you pick the program it doesn't play. TDE recognizes the CD when installed and asks what would you like to do " open in a new window" and another one which I forget at the moment but when you select open in a new window TDE pops up a fault. Any ideas? Am I using the wrong player?

Im running both Clementine and Audacious with no issues. When the dialog box comes up to ask me what I want to do I close it. I click on Clementine{Scorpion} and off I go to listen to the cd. I use Audacious with Orion as it is lighter overall with plugins installed.

Audio CD's will not play on either one of my laptops with Q4OS. Not sure what the problem is. What can I check?

@Mr.Mark
We can recommend you to use VLC media player, you can play Audio CD from VLC menu -> Media -> Open Disc -> Audio CD. You can also use terminal command:
$ cvlc cdda://dev/cdrom
Other options include Clementine and Audacious as proposed by crosscourt.

If I click open in new window it says Could not start process Unable to create io-slave: tdelauncher said: Unknown protocol 'audiocd'
Hopefully this extra information can help to figure out what is going on.

Have you installed VLC from the Q4OS Software centre ? If not so, you may need to install additional multimedia libraries:
$ sudo apt-get install libav-tools twolame libaacs0 libfaad2 libmp4v2-2 libfaac0 libmp3lame0 libdvdnav4 libdvdread4 libbluray1 libcrystalhd3 libopencore-amrwb0 libopencore-amrnb0
Try to run:
$ cvlc cdda://dev/cdrom
$ cvlc cdda://dev/sr0
and report back.
We have tested playing audio cd successfully on a plain 64bit Q4OS installation with only VLC installed from Software center.

FYI the cd plays when I entered $ cvlc cdda://dev/cdrom I was hoping to be able to see the playlist and possibly be able to burn cd's. Is that possible?

I have an update. I changed the Audio Output in the VLC player to Alsa and now it works. I Googleized the fault message and that was mentioned on an ArchLinux page so I tried it. There's a bunch of selections in there.

There is another, more lightweight, audio cd player from TDE repositories 'kscd-trinity' available:
$ sudo apt-get install kscd-trinity
Anyway, you will need to configure '/dev/cdrom' device in kscd settings.
Offline
I installed the kscd-trinity. How do I configure ''/dev/cdrom' device in kscd settings now? Thank you!

Insert an audio cd > click to kscd icon in system tray to show kscd window > stop playing cd > click "Extras" button on the right bottom -> click "Configure KsCD" -> specify your CD device, most likely "/dev/cdrom", in the "CD-ROM Device" section.

I'm not sure what happened. Now it doesn't recognize a cd in the tray at all. VLC won't play the cd now either. I'll have to mess with it some more when I get home from work.

It appears to be working now. I like the KsCD. Do they make a burner as well?

... Do they make a burner as well?
Yes, there is a K3B application in 'k3b-trinity' package intended for CD burning. You can install it using package manager or terminal:
$ sudo apt-get install k3b-trinity

Slowly but surely I'm getting there. How do I get the JACK audio connection kit for Rosegarden to work? Thank you for all of your help! I really appreciate it!
Offline
Depending on how K3b performs for you, there is also xfburn and brasero burning apps you can get thru synaptic.
