One crash I can now replicate consistently is when I try to sign into my yahoo mail...when i am hit enter after entering my password, I get the browser shut down....and...it happens in palemoon as well....on the same screen.
Offline
Understood its the browser crashing. Chrome doesnt crash interesting.
Please post the crash report from Firefox if you would.
Firefox defaults to HTML5 not Flash and Yahoo mail does use Flash but it shouldnt cause a crash.
I can use both Firefox and Chrome with Yahoo mail and dont have any issues though.

Interesting.
First of all, please make sure your original firefox profile folder is somewhere safe - assuming it contains stuff that it important. I normally move mine to a folder called ~/home/myuser/profiles
I guess you do not use Thunderbird or any other Mozilla products - as opposed to Palemoon which has a different profile folder.
For each test you need to make sure that you start without any ./mozilla/firefox folder - so make sure you use Konqueor with View>Show Hidden to make sure that is the case. Provided you have made certain your original is safe the you can just delete ./mozilla/firefox or if there's nothing else in it then just delete ./mozilla each time.
Having made certain of that, please can you confirm that you have only installed Firefox via the software installer in Q4OS and not from any downloaded deb file and that you have not tried to install any other version.
Once we know we have a clean slate to work from we can avoid any side issues.
Start Firefox from terminal and report results.

I am not confident that I am removing the profile folder correctly. Firefox starts with my assigned homepage each time....would this happen if I deleted my profile correctly? What is the command to do this from the terminal?

OK...LOL...I got firefox to start it it's initial state, so I assume that I eliminated the profile folder. I went the page I usually set as my homepage...and it crashed after about two minutes. The following was in my terminal:

O.K....how about this? For whatever reason I was dinking around with some stuff on Q4os (which I really really like....being a relative newcomer to linux) and decided to turn on the desktop effects, which I had not done up to this point. So I started firefox.....and......no crashes...it's been stable for hours. What the heck!!!!!????
Offline
That's interesting!
My thoughts are that this is an Intel Graphics driver related issue, but other than that I'm stumped - but glad that it works OK for you.
Others with Intel HW may have more input on this.
Offline
Desktop effects could be a cause as typically both Firefox and Chrome need them by default but thats affected both by settings and drivers.
Generally as Im looking at my installs of Q4OS, desktop effects are off by default.
Most of my Dell systems use Intel gpus from 2004-2014 and none of the Q4OS installs have had any browser issues.

I do still get occasional tab crashes....and if I have multiple open, they all crash. If this is a intel graphics driver issue, any tips on finding the driver that might fully stabilize this issue?
Thanks!!
Offline
As you appreciate this is not a new issue with Firefox - so there are a number of possible fixes suggested in different fora.
In terms of what is most immediately accessible to you:-
1. Keep current installation but upgrade the kernel sudo qinst-kernel-bpo which may bring better driver/support - the old kernel will still be there if causes problems.
2. Install Q4OS Scorpion - again newer/better driver support.
Offline
Going to a newer kernel wouldnt help if Im reading your information correctly up top. Your running an Intel 965gm chipset from 2007 using the Intel graphics media accelerator x3100. Ive got some Dell laptops that use this chipset and they run fine with Q4OS 1.8.7 using the 3.16 kernel.
Also you said that you didnt have any crashes with Chrome nor in safe mode with Firefox so that doesnt point to it being an Intel driver issue.
Im using the same driver that you are with a Intel 965gm chipset and everything works fine.

I've been using Pale Moon for about a month or so with no issues...
How did you install Pale Moon?
Is it the latest ver of Q4OS?
Offline
I've just done a fresh install to clear out other packages i had been testing and installed palemoon using the Pale Moon for Linux installer offered on the website. Installation was quick and painless and resulted in a correctly configured and working Pale Moon browser. Menu item also created at Programs -> Accessories -> Internet -> Pale Moon Web Browser
I'm using Scorpion for most of my installations (machines) now, but I think this still works ok with Orion but maybe somebody that uses Orion could confirm this.
