As I recall the last time I had this arrangement I installed Wicd and then enabled that in XFCE Session and Startup. Network Manager will do the same trick - it depends on which you prefer. In XFCE you can of course also enable KDE applications on start but I don't think I ever played with that vis-a-vis networks - I prefer to keep things separate.

You can of course use that in Q4OS as well if you wish.
