teamviewer/anydesk problem with desktop effects disabled

hi, If I use teamviewer (latest version) or anydesk and try to move on the screen a q4os (in all my PCs with q4os) window from a remote pc, the connection falls and I am not able to connect anymore. Moving to q40s pc I find the window "blocked" in transparent mode. I have to move it to unlock all. NO problem with desktop effect enabled. is a kde issue? thank you

Re: teamviewer/anydesk problem with desktop effects disabled

I think I have seen this issue. The steps to reproduce:

1) Use TeamViewer to establish a remote connection

2) Try to move a Konqueror window on the controlled PC via TeamViewer

3) The remote connection would freeze -- it can only be fixed if someone would move that Konqueror window manually again while being physically present by the controlled PC

Can the Q4OS Team confirm this?

Q4OS 1.8, desktop effects turned off, Nvidia GeForce 6150 (proprietary drivers)

The issue is still present in Q4OS Scorpion 2.4.

Re: teamviewer/anydesk problem with desktop effects disabled

We have been researching around this bug a bit and found out an easy workaround. If you configure 'twin' window manager to show contents of moved window, teamviewer, as well as anydesk, start to work properly:
Control panel > Desktop > Window Behavior > Moving tab > check 'Display content in moving/resizing windows' checkboxes

This bug is most likely caused by some incompatibility in twin window manager and teamviewer XDMCP protocol implementation. We will try to research it in more detail and report it as a bug at the appropriate site.

As the first step, we have put a new bug https://sourceforge.net/p/q4os/tickets/63/ into our bugtracker, please post any additional findings there.

Good work guys, on the subject of teamviewer are there any plans to put it in the software centre again? I found it nice to be able to install easily from there and have missed it sad

Not yet, as Teamviewer packages are 32bit only, need to add i386 architecture to 64bit systems, and also use internal 32bit wine binaries. So it's a bit clumpy although it works.

We would prefer 'Anydesk' https://anydesk.com/remote-desktop, as it has 32bit as well as 64bit native Linux packages and binaries.

Anyway, you can download both Q4OS installers, Teamviewer as well as Anydesk, from here https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/f … erimental/

Re: teamviewer/anydesk problem with desktop effects disabled

Thanks guys, I have been using Teamviewer as it has good support for Android devices so I can manage them completely remotely, and not too sure about AnyDesk as I have never used it (although that may change soon smile ) at the moment I have to stick with teamviewer but AnyDesk does look promising. And thank you for such a quick response smile
