I've tried to install Q4OS by DVD (Live system) and USB Boot but it seem to be not noticedby the computer. Any Ideas?

Is the bios set to see the USB device first? Is the USB port enabled in the bios?

This is a 32bit machine with 512mb RAM (standard) it will be a challenge.

@ AKM
Did the live system work at all? that is, did it boot up and allow you into the session and just not install?

512mb of ram he should be fine, Ive got Q4OS installed on some pretty old laptops. Bigger issue is going to be bios and/or acpi issues.
So the install by DVD and USB boot failed? DVD should be your best bet and make sure its the first boot device in the bios.

The other issue could be not all the ram is available for use given internal graphics and the fact hes running a live session. May not be enough ram for an install,256mb being the minimum I believe.

Although I tried it from the hard drive boot partition, it doesn't give me the option to boot another thing than Windows XP.

It's a bit like secure boot

Its probably a limited bios, its very proprietary and simply makes things really difficult to install other OS( secure boot cant be disabled and no legacy option of some type).
Were you able to run a live session without problems?

It took a bit, but here I'm typing from my computer with Q4OS. The installation problem was my system doesn't notice DVDs. So I had to take CDs. Great speed! That's what I missed. But it doesn't notice my USB ports. And how can I change the heading of this thread?

Glad it was something straightforward that allowed you to be able to install Q4OS. Q4OS has such a small iso image youre better off using a cd anyway.
Its a very fast OS and makes older hardware fly.
To change the heading of the thread just click edit in the very first post in this thread and you can edit the title of the thread.
Recheck your bios to be sure that the USB ports are enabled. Linux rarely has issues seeing USB ports/devices.
