Ive had more experience with WPS on Windows 7 as Ive used it instead of MS Office and had good results overall. Im also testing other office suites to compare.

The last version is from end of June 2016 (version Alpha21[2016-06-24]) and the development of the Linux version will not be continued by the WPS community. You can read this somewhere in the WPS Forum, but you cannot easy find this information, because the forum is meanwhile full of spam.
You can't compare this "old" Linux version with the recent Win version, which runs with less bugs.

It's a great shame because WPS does have a lot of good points. I use the spreadsheet package a lot, but for print output it is rubbish - sadly. Haven't tried the latest version with Wine yet.....
For print I use Softmaker Office which is fine but just a bit clunky. File output which I have to send to Office 2003 - 2013 users is good for compatibility.

The info I have is the company has changed their minds and will continue support and creation of newer versions but look here and see what you think,

I work on a few other sites and we've tried to contact them and so far they reinterated they will create newer versions and continue support for Linux.

Its still worth a look.
I use LibreOffice primarily but Ive also used FreeOffice with some good results.

As if by magic http://wps-community.org/download.html
I've installed it and it is certainly quicker in all aspects.
Haven't tried print yet - that was a big quality issue previously - bad kerning especially

Thank you for this good news!

Sadly print output is still rubbish - not so bad if you pdf first, but straight from the application it is horrible.
There has been some chat about this on the WPS forum, but it such a spam nest I cannot be bothered to follow it up.
It sounds like there is some relationship between screen resolution/dpi and printing - which is bizarre.
Shame - but there we are.
Softmaker actually prints to pdf in background, then prints the pdf itself so it gets round the problem.

Ill give it a look and see what happens to see if I encounter the same issues.

Microsoft TT fonts render OK on screen but print badly kerned
'Free' fonts render kerning badly and print badly - font dependant - Liberation not too bad
Same issue with other DE's so not TDE specific.

We tried it last night as an app included in another distro by default. Only used Microsoft TT fonts and didnt have any issues. My wife did the testing with some of her projects and she was satisfied with the results.
