How do I install Q4OS on a 32 gig MMC hard drive UEFI gpt partition

Hello there friends,  I have in the past installed Q4OS on various other computers and was greatly satisfied about  many aspects of this OS but was disappointed that the Number lock was set for this installation though after installation I turned off the number lock. My Quest is:    How do I install Q4OS on a 32 gig MMC hard drive UEFI gpt partition and what method of installation should I choose?   Keep in mind I have already tried installing using automated install method and the Q4OS installed but no access to screen resolution change ability, no access to wifi card, and no access to sound card.    I was installing this on an Epik Learning Ultra Slim new laptop with 2 gigs of ram 64 amd processor 1.6 intel atom dual core.

Re: How do I install Q4OS on a 32 gig MMC hard drive UEFI gpt partition

I just had a quick online search and noticed from the specs that they run Windows 10 and use Google Play which would suggest it might be an Android hybrid of some description so I'm not sure whether it will successfully run Q4OS (or any Linux distro) but I am only guessing at this point as I have never dealt with one of those machines. On a normal laptop it is possible to install (I always use live-cd to ensure compatibility) in the usual manner and GPT and UEFI have been successfully catered for, with that said the first thing I would check are the BIOS (UEFI) settings and if possible disable secure boot before installing, and also fast boot sometimes causes problems and could be disabled although in my Dell Inspiron I did not have to disable fast boot, only secure boot.

If any other users have any experience with these machines I'm sure they will offer better advice.

You can easily configure NumLock login status in Control Panel -> Peripherals -> Keyboard -> NumLock on KDE startup -> set Off/On . We would suggest you to try to boot the Q4OS testing live cd https://www.q4os.org/downloads2.html on the 'Epik Learning Ultra Slim' computer and report back.

Re: How do I install Q4OS on a 32 gig MMC hard drive UEFI gpt partition

Im no expert with these systems but devices like this, particularly Atom based systems(in this case 1.8ghz Cherry Trail quad core Atom processor) with limited bios options( cant turn off secure boot, no legacy option) have a hard time with Linux installs. That said try to use the most recent kernel possible which even in the case of Scorpion that uses 4.4 may not work, but definitely your best bet compared to Orion thats based on the 3.16 kernel.  You may want to Google and see if you can find some posts related to Linux installs with this device/similar devices and see whats been working for some users.

My only nettop at home had similar issues and I had to use a distro with a 4.9 kernel to get it to work.

Not correct, Q4OS Scorpion doesn't use 4.4, but 4.9 kernel.

Thanks for the correction and that should help him quite a bit even though the laptop is very proprietary in nature, thus there are no guarantees.
