Set to 128dpi

Hi, thank you for making this OS!

How can I set the overall OS-resolution to match 128dpi? (13.3" display, 1440*900 pixel)
I like 10cm on a screen-ruler to match with 10cm on the plastic-ruler I hold at the screen.

Thanks again.

Re: Set to 128dpi

I cant see an easy way to do this, but an alternative might be to use a screen ruler which can be set to cm/px/inches. I don't know why you need the ruler thingy but this might help... smile

Re: Set to 128dpi

sudo apt-get install kruler-trinity
Kruler is a screen ruler (using pixels) and color measurement tool for TDE.

I remember using screenruler a long time ago when I was creating gui's and it helped to space everything out, but Kruler-trinity is a better choice for Q4OS. smile

My Perfect 128dpi GUI: https://ibb.co/isJgYF

The screenruler was just meant as a proof. I vaguely recall, that when 11 years ago I started using Linux, the failure of KDE3.5 to meet my requirement let me opt for Gnome, now MATE.

Today I'd like to know, if I can implement such 128dpi GUI with Q4OS?

Re: Set to 128dpi

I have looked throught the control centre to see if there are any settings that might be adjusted to acheive this but I'm afraid I found nothing other than the font settings that you have already tried. I would have thought ther would be some sort of Assistive setting for this to make the whole screen bigger by the user preferred amount for poor sighted users... but nothing that I can see would do this...

Re: Set to 128dpi

@GlobalNetz
You can use a dedicated Q4OS script 'dpi_set.sh <dpi_value>' to set overall system dpi, so you will need to run in terminal:
$ sudo dash /usr/share/apps/q4os_system/bin/dpi_set.sh 128
Reboot

Before I experiment and mess things up  smile -

How do I "unset" it?

That is - return to normal settings.

$ sudo dash /usr/share/apps/q4os_system/bin/dpi_set.sh 96
should be sufficient to reset changes made by this script.

Re: Set to 128dpi

Let me share the outcome:

virtualbox_xpq4_30_05_2017_03_.png

The scalability of elements like dialog-boxes and icons appears more limited than here:

and here:

virtualbox_madirisha17_21_05_2.png

Please let me know, if I missed some possible tweak!

Reckon, that's why there is KDE5 wink

Re: Set to 128dpi

Thank you for that report. We have included new Software centre bug into our internal todo list, regarding to rendering with different dpi and font settings.
