The current version of backintime backup software in the jessie repos is very old.
There's nothing in jessie-backports
The backintime site provides a tar file backintime-1.1.12.tar.gz which contains the build stuff to create debian packages http://backintime.le-web.org/download/b … .12.tar.gz
I have used that to create backintime-common, notify and qt4 all.deb files
All the dependencies for these are in the current jessie repos and installed without any fuss at all.
This provides an up to date working version of backintime.
Given that luckybackup is no longer developed, backintime provides something of a lifeline for linux backups.
One of its major good points is that it actually helps you to make sure you back up your backup configuration - this is important as if you add filters, custom jobs etc it's nice to get them back if needed in a full restore. Like most rsync based systems the backups are file browsable. Snapshots of changed files keep space requirements low.

Thanks very much. I forgot to include qt4-qtconfig as a suggested addon to this. The GTK+ GUI style it offers from its config menu is a very close match for Plastik and helps keep qt apps appearance consistent - hence the use of the qt4 deb
