Hello everyone,
i'm having troubles setting up a Brother QL 570 label printer using q4os 1.8 64 bit.
I have installed the 2 debs from http://support.brother.com/g/b/download … ng=English (seems that without them it won't work at all)
I used dpkg --add-architecture i386
Then dpkg -i (first the lpr one, then the cups one).
Then i have used print system shortcut to go to http://adminq@localhost:631/printers, choosed find new printer and added it. It asked for label size, choosed 62x100mm.
Seems everything fine but the test print doesn't work and i'm unable to print from libreoffice with the templates.
If there is some log that could help let me know.
I have tried with ubuntu mate 16.04 and it worked, but i would like to keep using q4os.
I have also tried to setup an hp envy within q4os and it worked flawlessy.
Thank you in advance.

i had an issue with my printer on one machine and it was down to not having cups installed (cups wrapper still installed correctly) once i installed it everything worked fine.

Thank you.
Unfortunatly cups is installed and the other printer, an hp envy, works fine.

@ggc
First try to install needed packages:
$ sudo apt-get install foomatic-db printer-driver-all cups
setup a printer using cups interface http://adminq@localhost:631/printers
If the printer will not work check /var/log/cups/* logfiles.

Tried that command but everything is already installed.
I've made a video of what happens:

Unfortunately, as it's hardware specific issue, we are not able to reproduce it and/or perform a testing. The only possibility at the moment for you is to report a bug in our bug-tracker https://sourceforge.net/p/q4os/tickets . Please include a short specification of your hardware.

One more idea, do you really need to install external .deb packages ? Adding 386 architecture and installing external debs doesn't look too pretty.
You may find possible to install the printer out of the box. We would recommend you to try install your printer following Q4OS documentation first, see http://www.q4os.org/dqa007.html#printer.2

Same problem in Debian 8.7, so it's not q4os related.
An external driver is unfortunatly needed, maybe will work with scorpion.
Thank you.

Solved, video here : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7m6y … 2ZIemlnZms
It's not all that cool (sorry ) but i have also shown how to add a custom label size.
The main problem was libstdc++6:i386 missing and a missing dir that needs to be created before installing ql570lpr package (iirc /var/spool/lpd/ql570 )
