I'm not sure if this should be Support or General, but I'll start with support.
Often when looking a comments on websites I encounter "strange" boxes. On Firefox they look similar to a domino, on Chromium they look like []. I assume this is a font problem, but I'm not sure.
For example ?
Doing a search on that character I found that it is supposed to be a thumbs-up symbol, but haven't found any font that will show it.
Can we resolve this or not?
Looking at the preview of this post it looks like it is changed to a question mark?

Noto is what you're looking for. Produced by Google the name is No Tofu - NoTo - get it. The Tofu is the chocolate bar thing. Supposedly Noto will display all characters correctly. I use it and haven't come across any major issues, but it may not be to all tastes. It was installed with Softmaker Office but is in the normal repos

Thanks Bin, I installed the noto fonts. Made no difference. I logged out and back in, still no difference. In LO the fonts do show as available, but it still shows the rectangle. Same for Thunderbird and Firefox.
Not anything major. I'll keep working on it in my spare time.
Again, thanks!

It does sometimes help to actually reboot to force the fonts to be re-read.
Web sites can be a bit different - it depends on what codepage is made available as to what gets rendered.
Make sure you have allowed the default that says something like 'allow web pages to use their own fonts' - depends on browser.

It could be different fonts needed also. Do you have Symbola fonts installed? May can add emoji fonts also!
