System was hosed

I have been running Q4OS for about the past 5 or so days and today after using the system, I noticed I couldn't move the mouse and saw the HDD light was running constantly. I waited for about 30 minutes and still wasn't able to do anything but press the power button.

There was two users logged in the system, the wife using the default DE environment and me, running Openbox. We both normally may leave Firefox 45.5.0 running with about 5 tabs open.

I'm just posting this for a mini rant, since I wasn't able to use the system to try and see what may have hosed it up

Re: System was hosed

For my money Firefox ESR was the culprit, possibly aided by the sites left open on tabs?????

I tried ESR and found similar issues. A quick Google will show you n number of issues with FF ESR and memory. Install 49 from the repos instead - or consider alternatives - I use Seamonkey which I find much better. Chromium is an alternative.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check out using a different browser.

Re: System was hosed

We can suggest you to not use 'Firefox ESR' but 'Firefox Release'. You can easily install it from Q4OS Software Centre. Note, it will automatically install flashplugin too, however it is disabled by default. You can easily enable flashplugin from FF extensions manager.
