I see there's been a new release recently, but doing
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
results in nothing.
Do you have to manually initiate an upgrade or does it happen automatically? maybe I missed it! How can I tell which version is currently installed on my system? is there a simple command for this?
Thanks!

The update has been probably installed automatically, you can get Q4OS version from terminal:
$ get-q4os-version

1.4.12-n1
There was a kernel update the other day and I had to reboot. I guess that must have been it. Thanks.
