I just updated from the Update Manager and it changed my IceWeasel to Firefox. I know they are almost the same, but shouldn't it stay IceWeasel?
Or have I made a (another) mistake somewhere?

Debian have upgraded iceweasel to firefox, I think I read about it somewhere a while back. As far as I remember mozilla have either reduced the license on their graphics or changed the graphics for a lesser license allowing firefox to be included in the debian repositories. I don't remember all the details but I'm sure a google would reveal a few answers And it is the same for all debian based distributions.

Yes, we can confirm, there is no Iceweasel in Debian Jessie more, it's replaced by Firefox-ESR.

Q4OS keeps own version of Firefox 'Release', the latest stable 47 at the time, in the Software centre. You can choose which version to install, ESR 45.2 from repositories or Release from SW centre.

It may be coincidence, but I have had problems with FF 47.0 stability under Jessie - just crashes for no reason on sites I've been using for years with IceWeasel and FF 45 and earlier from backports.
UPDATE a few days later.........
The problems were not the fault of Firefox after all.
For the last 10 -15 years - ever since Firefox first came out- I have been using the same profile copied from machine to machine, distro to distro ad nauseam.
Up to now that has worked fine, keeping all my history etc etc together over the years, transferring from Linux to Windows and back again as required.
However, something seems to have become corrupt in places.sqlite which was causing the crash. With a new version of places.sqlite it seems to be under control..........interesting.
Sorry to have bothered you.
