Disabling IPv6 protocol does not work.

Good day!
Many forums advice, that if you don`t use IPv6 protocol, you should disable it for performance and security reasons.
I followed instructions, described here, and edited /etc/sysctl.conf.
The problem is, that after reboot, I have IPv6 enabled!
Why editing sysctl.conf does not working?
The most interesting is, when I run sysctl -p the IPv6 disabling as it should be, but after reboot IPv6 enables again...

I usually use the network manager from the q4os-sofware centre, this has the option to disable IPv6 built in, could be worth a try.

Q4OS is a Debian based Linux, so settings for Debian should work here too.

We suppose your network devices are managed by network-manager, it takes care about devices configuration. You would have to remove them from NM management to get full control for sysctl.

I use TDENetworkManager. There is no IPv6 settings on it. When I remove device from it I loose internet connection...

You have to completely remove network device, for ex. eth0, from network-manager control. You will need to configure the network device manually in /etc/network/interfaces, you can start here https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkConfigur … _Interface. Network interfaces recorded in '/etc/network/interfaces' are automatically excluded from network-manager control.

Another alternative would be disable IPv6 on your router (I have), that way it doesn't really affect individual machines (unless they want IPv6 that is)

Success! After editing /etc/network/interfaces IPv6 finally disabled. Now, how to remove TDENetworkManager, because i don`t need it anymore (I have only one wired DHCP connection).

Found a forum bug! If to try submit big image (more than 100Kb), then compress it and submit again without changing image file name, you will have two identical messages instead of one.

$ sudo apt-get autoremove network-manager-tde

Thanks for the report, the forum bug is known. You can workaround it by attaching only one file on new post, then edit post, attach second file, etc.

After editing /etc/network/interfaces and removing network-manager-tde, Q4OS Updater stopped work properly. It says "Can not find network connection". http://storage4.static.itmages.ru/i/16/ … 0c6681.png
I can update system using terminal without any problems.

I can't help with this issue but couldn't help but notice you appear to have double dialogs there too, I thought they were only coming up after successful updates...

I will try and look at the updater source again to see if I can find anything that would prevent it finding what looks like a standard network connection.

Yes, we can confirm the issue, Update manger requires Network manager to manage network devices.

I know I mentioned this in post #2 but network manager from the software centre should cover this issue

I use DrWeb Antivirus for Linux, and it had update issues, when TDENetworkManager was installed. Automatic updates could not run at system startup, and I always got error message. Not a big issue, but since I reconfigured /etc/network/interfaces and removed network-manager-tde, I do not have any problems with virus database updates at system startup. Also I always update my system using terminal, so I simply removed q4os-update-manager, because i don`t need it.
Anyway, everything is solved, and this topic can be closed.
