The problem is similar like described here: http://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=663
But now, I can`t download files using latest Google Chrome. I use Q4OS 1.4.9-n1 x64.
Yes, we have just released a fix, this workaround is no longer necessary on any architecture after system update.
Looks like it does not work with Google Chrome.
Also I can`t change downloaded files location in Google Chrome.
Also I have tested SRWare Iron a week ago and had the same problem too.
Looks like it affects all chromium based browsers!

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502 If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Did you install Chrome from Q4OS Software centre ? We recommend to proceed Chrome installation from software centre and try again. The fix you mentioned above is valid for Chromium only, it can be installed from Debian repositories unlike Google Chrome.
We have quickly checked the issue, fresh Q4OS 1.4.9-n1 x64 installation, Google Chrome 50.0.2661.86 (64-bit) installed from software centre. Downloading files works fine, it will popup 'save as' trinity dialog and saves files as expected. Changing download location works too.

Google Chrome was installed during Full featured Desktop installation. System was restored using Clonezilla about a week ago. System is updated. Creating '/etc/chromium.d/99-custom-chromium-scr' did not helped.

Try to remove and reinstall Google Chrome from Software centre. We will investigate the issue and let findings here.
Creating '/etc/chromium.d/99-custom-chromium-scr' did not helped.
It is valid for Chromium only, not Google Chrome

Unable to reproduce, fresh Q4OS 1.4.9-n1 x64 installation, full 'Q4OS Desktop' profile installed. Downloading files works fine including the 'SRWare' link you posted above, it will popup 'save as' trinity dialog and saves files as expected. Changing download location works too.

Sorry, I do not have time to reinstall entire system because of workload. I removed Google Chrome and installed Chromium. With Chromium downloads work correctly.
