Konqueror Opening Folders In Separate Windows

Hello, so I am running Q4OS andromeda and I have noticed that whenever I open folders in Konqueror, it opens them in new windows, even when the settings option for it: "Open Folders in Separate Windows" is unchecked. I noticed that this does not happen on the sudo Konqueror, and only happens on the normal mode. This is annoying because if I need to find a file nested deeply in some folders, I have to close the new windows again and again. If anyone knows if theres a solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks smile

Re: Konqueror Opening Folders In Separate Windows

Are you able to reproduce this on live media some way? We are not so far.

If I'm not mistaken, this situation arises when the file association for directories has its left click action misconfigured for your user profile.
So, instead of telling the file manager to open folders within its own window it tells the system to start the default viewer which activates a new instance i.e. opens a new Konqueror window every time you click on a directory. Root (sudo) uses a clean system profile where this association is set correctly.

To fix try in this way:
1. Open Konqueror
2. From the top menu, go to Settings -> Configure Konqueror
3. In the left-hand sidebar, select File Associations
4. In the main tree view, expand the inode category and click on directory
5. On the right side of the window, switch to the Embedding tab
6. Under the Left Click Action section, you will likely see it set to "Show file in separate viewer". Change this selection by checking Show file in embedded viewer
7. Click Apply at the bottom, then Ok.

The solution that you gave me seemed to work, now the folders open in the same window. Thanks Taige!
