Re: Upgrade to a newer Q4OS edition

"If someone claims that major to major upgrade of Debian, Ubuntu, or another OS is safe, that's simply not true. We cannot recommend that in good conscience."
Exactly. Claiming that a major upgrade of Debian, Ubuntu, or any other OS is risk-free is simply not true. At most, you can say it is 'generally' reliable and officially supported, but you cannot honestly guarantee it.
Saying a major dist-upgrade is safe is to confuse the statistical reliability of the process with the absence of risk... It’s quite telling that Debian itself recommends, for important upgrades, making a full backup, and even now suggests as a precaution trying an upgrade in QEMU before touching the actual machine.

Debian & Q4OS (TDE!!), low-level C, ASM (z80/68k/x86/ARM64), embedded systems, CPU architectures (RISC-V, binary formats, assembly), retro-computing, metal music, guitar and sci-fi.
