Fresh Install - GRUB and afterwards

Hello support,

I need help with Desktop-Profiler (selection of a Software-Profile), because I can not finalize or configure the new installation.

Hardware:
Acer Switch 3

Problem Description:
Booted Q4OS Andromeda Plasma Live, went through istallation process, everything went fine until the last step of
"grub-install ....."

Finally I found out, that the Acer Switch 3 has no NVRAM which can be written to and I invoked the "grub-install ...." command while still
in Live mode from command line, but now with the two addtional parameters "--no-nvram" and "--removable".
This went fine and I can boot the system from disk.

But now starts the problem: After fresh install, one is then "forced" to select a Software-Profile in the Desktop-Profiler App,
but I always get the PopUp, that this is not possible for Live-Systems - but I am not anymore in Live mode,
because I alreday booted from disk (mmcblk).

So I tried to prevent the GUIs to circumvent the problem by using the command line and by selecting a Software-Profile "by hand".

But I had no success.

Could you please show me a solution to this problem? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

This issue has nothing to do with Grub installation. If the file "/etc/q4oslivemedia" still exists in your system, just remove it and try Desktop profile setup once again. The question remains, why the installer didn't remove the file upon the install process.

Re: Fresh Install - GRUB and afterwards

Hello Q4OS Team,

thanks for the hint. After deleting the "/etc/q4oslivemedia" file, everything worked as expected.

I think, the "q4oslivemedia" file was not deleted by the install routine, because it stopped by the "grub-install ....." error before, not able to execute following commands until the routines end.

My be you can update the PoUp of the Desktop-Profiler with an additional note, to delete this fie if not any more in Live mode.

Thank you again for your support!
