Interesting updates issue

Not wishing to hi-jack https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6104 but very much related to it.

I have recently completed switching over all my systems to Plasma and up till now have been using manual updating via terminal.

I have used unattended upgrades since at least 2013 on a huge range of distros and only ever had one issue with a bad grub update a few years back. Switched this one machine to unattended upgrades 2 days ago.

Since I have also been using winehq-devel on this machine I have not added that to the sources for UU as it is not always something I want to update on every change.

Yesterday UU ran in background and updated q4os-base but also the update notification popped. Checking and they were for winehq-devel. Checked the release info and decided to install via the update tool, and they installed fine.

This morning update manager popped up with 4 updates.
So I clicked the button to see what they were - empty.
Checked via terminal - no updates due.
Checked the UU log and there were 4 chromium packages that had been updated via UU.
So, it would seem the updates to chromium were applied by UU and also triggered the update notifier.

I only mention this as in the thread linked up it was mentioned that with UU one would NOT expect the update notifier to show up.
I was a bit puzzled by that as I would have expected it to do so as I guess it is just triggered by the presence of updates irrespective of how they are to be applied.
Now, I'm absolutely happy with the way that is working - having update notifier run tells me that there are updates and UU does the job. I can then check the notifier window and see if there's anything left. I cannot recall if the updated notifier has a refresh button - that would be most useful.

Yes, we understand the case. However we don't consider this as a bug, we would agree it would be better for update manager to check whether updates has been already processed by some another tool, or at least provide a refresh button to update its status. We'll take a closer look at this, thanks.
