Edit In Column Mode with Kate?

I am a fan of Notepad++ and use it in Windows. I was delighted to discover the text editor in Q4OS is Kate. It has many of the same features. I sometimes edit lists of files which includes their file paths. With Notepad++ I can edit in "column mode" to remove this path info and leave the file names. I cannot see a way to do this with Kate. Does anyone have a solution? I tried a snap package called notepad-plus-plus, but it does not seem to have this column mode. TIA

Ctrl+Shift+B switches between normal mode and column mode, both in Kwrite and Kate.
