Hi to everyone. Another question for the Q4OS team - why not create a single ISO that has everything on it, and let users pick the "flavor" of Q4OS they want to install (e.g., "minimal," "live," and so on) without having to connect to repositories to download the rest of the applications that'd comprise the "regular" flavors of Q4OS? Why not just make a single ISO, then have it install what users want from the ISO itself? Seems to me that you guys would have less strain or whatever on your servers if you did it that way. I dunno. The ISO is hosted on Sourceforge, and not Q4OS servers. Again, I dunno. An explanation here would help me (and others, too, I guess) understand the Q4OS' team's rationale better. Thank you very much.

We don't think so. If everyone download the full iso, servers load would be even greater as a few users don't need the full system. Users just install what they want only. The current model seems to be more effective to us.
Q4OS aims to be light. Why should we release bloated, hardware demanding iso, when it's possible to install the full profile anytime ? Isn't fast and light system better ?

Why have to download a much larger iso when many people dont have fast connections. The present method leaves the decision with the user and allows for more flexibility. Staying light and the fact that the TDE version is very popular as an option for much older hardware, really doesnt lend itself to having a full download iso.
Im assuming there havent been any issues so far and my experience has been excellent, so theres no need to change something thats not broke.
Its also one of those things that makes Q4OS a bit more unique versus other distros.

I guess I can see your point of view. Thank you for replying, though. Appreciate it.

I get it. At the same time, though, I guess, having to download extra stuff after having installed the core OS just to get a more "complete" experience seems a bit ornery. Especially when you have other OSes that are also of modest size and still offer a reasonably full package, like Linux Mint, which you don't have to download a bunch of other stuff after the initial install just to get a fuller experience. I don't know. Still, I can get the Q4OS team's perspective. Thanks.

Q4OS is around 1.5gb for the KDE version(1gb Trinity version) and Mint isnt even close to that. The desktop profile files really dont take that long to download and depending on what you choose it wont take long at all. The issue with Mint is if I dont like some of the apps, I have to sit there and remove it, but with Q4OS I can choose another path. Its a different way to look at things, but with older hardware in particular, it works very well.

Thank you. (Also, sorry for the late response.)
