We are investigating issue reported by @crosscourt
... Ive had issues login in Q4OS when Ive used anything other than the full desktop profile. In my case I got to the login screen, it didnt freeze but login simply did nothing. The issue has never cropped up while using the full desktop profile.

Q4OS Plasma live media, Basic profile applied

We are not able to reproduce the issue so far, however investigating is underway.

Do anyone else experience this issue ?

This happened on three customer systems using I believe, the 5.5 Plasma live media and basic profile. No errors with desktop profile install.

We have done some testing and still have not been able to reproduce the issue. Login works fine for all profiles, even for the Pure profile on both VMs and real hardware.

It would be helpful if you could try to reproduce the issue once again using the live Q4OS 5.7 Plasma image and report the result.

Ill try to recreate the issue over the weekend, and see if it will happen. Again this actually happened using the Q4OS Aquarius 5.5 live image awhile back.

Reporting back after doing a few installs and I was not able to recreate those three original instances where it did happen.

Thanks, so what are your opinion about the Basic profile ? Would you suggest some mods ? If you come across this issue please mention it here..

Im going to test it for awhile and Ive also made arrangements to check out the three customer systems where this occured. I may be able to try installing on one of the problem systems and see if it reoccurs.

The Basic profile is for those who want to install applications of their choice from a clean, lightweight system. No superfluous software, just a light environment for a fresh start. It's also Flatpak free and is significantly lighter than the Full system.

Once a user tweaks the system, he can use Desktop profiler to take a snapshot profile in order to easily reproduce new installations, see https://www.q4os.org/dqa016.html#calmr

I pulled the drive from all three systems and reinstalled Q4OS with basic profile and had no issues. Im appreciative to these users to allow me to test this. They did tell me though, that they've had intermittent network issues, which makes me think, what if that happened during the time I was doing the basic profile installs and not during the time I was installing the full desktop install. Other than that I have no answer to this and cant recreate it.
