Hello! Q4OS does not start to Desktop menu, it freezes at Login screen when I enter my user password.
This happened after installing Q4OS system in my laptop PC using the Windows installer on Windows 10,
following the steps to setup the system installation, a message that said Use Desktop Profiler option
appeared and I clicked in it, the process started and few seconds later it showed an error ocurred.
I restarted my PC and when tried to Login Q4OS it only keeps in Login screen.
I am new to using Linux, I want to use Q4OS but also keep using Windows 10 with my data when needed.
Need help, if someone help me fix this, please.
=)

Try reinstalling Q4OS and make sure the full desktop profile is enabled/installed the second time. Which version of Q4OS did you install and KDE or TDE?
Can you tell us what the error was that occurred with Desktop profiler? Was your network active and available as Desktop Profiler will be downloading files for the install.
Look here for procedure, www.q4os.org/dqa014.html

I'm going to reinstall Q4OS from Windows installer.
But, what do you mean with make sure the full desktop profile is enabled/installed? I don't remember that option...
Don't know exactly what version did I installed, it was Aquarius, WinSetup x64 bits
Yes, it was an error about Network or Internet connection but I was connected to WiFi when did Desktop Profiler process.
Thanks, crosscourt

If youre having some issues related to software. its sometimes better to install with the full desktop profile. My guess is your network connection had an issue and the desktop profiler wasnt able to finish its install.
Good Luck !

Hello @CsrFerben, would you please attach a screenshot of Desktop profiler window with the error reported ? We would guess installing the full profile wouldn't solve hardware related issues however it delivers additional applications.

He already mentioned it was a network/internet connection issue it appears at desktop profiler. To give you an example, Ive had issues login in Q4OS when Ive used anything other than the full desktop profile. In my case I got to the login screen, it didnt freeze but login simply did nothing. The issue has never cropped up while using the full desktop profile. Ive also had networking issues with installs during the desktop profile part and I tend to reinstall and use an ethernet connection and it typically installs just fine.
Hes probably reinstalled and got it working.

Hello @q4osteam, I have not that screenshot of installing error.
I guess what happened at installing was that network connection failed, because I typed WiFi password but didn't clicked Next and then Connect option just Connect and did not followed the steps correctly.
First time, I just installed Q4OS as fast as I was able because I was busy doing other activities on computer, and did not followed the steps correctly.
I have reinstalled Q4OS system for a second time using Windows installer, followed steps correctly, now it is working really good and I am discovering and enjoying it!
A good thing here is that I reinstalled Q4OS system easily with the WinSetup file, and that first installation didn't affected or modified the Windows installation I already had.
Thank you for help and attention, crosscourt, q4osteam. Let's keep the good vibe on Q4OS system

So that looks like a bug. The Basic profile must be complete enough to enable such essential functionality. We would appreciate, if you would report it so we could investigate and possibly fix such an issue. In anyway, we are not able to reproduce it, login to Q4OS desktop works fine for all predefined profiles.

Sorry to say Ive had it happen three times and Ive never gone back to try an recreate it, as I prefer the full desktop anyway. It happened when I was installing Q4OS on customer pcs and honestly it surprised me when it happened. This is why I tend to recommend full desktop when people have simple issues with login, just to remove any variables. Most of the issues with Q4OS installs seem to come from network issues while using desktop profiler.

Thanks for letting us know Yes, the Winsetup doesn't touch existing data on Windows partitions nor modify partitions in any way. It only adds a few files and modify bootloader. The bootloader changes are reversible, in case of failure it can be restored to boot back to Windows. Enjoy Q4OS

@crosscourt
Would you recall, if you have experienced this bug with Plasma or Trinity edition and ? What profile did you selected, what installation iso did you use ?
We will try to reproduce the issue based on your information and post back.

I used Plasma and I was using the basic profile in all cases. I didnt think to try it on Trinity just to see if it would happen.
