Konqueror web browser not functionnal ?

I just installed the basic installation of aquarius 5.7 q4os with Trinity on an old computer (although I could use Plasma I remained on trinity to lower the load on the computer resources) which is not that old too (hp pro book 450 G2 with intel celeron 2957U and 4Go of RAM). The PC seems to work very smoothly but I can't get the konqueror web brower functionning. It doesn't display correctly or almost not at all any web page.

I'm quite suprised as it comes with TDE that I find works quite well apart from the web browser (I have'nt encountered any problem at least so far using konqueror as file manager). I'm also suprised to not have seen any topic on this issue as it is quite a big one, the konqueror web browser being useless in this state.

Do I miss some settings that might significantly improve its functioning, or is it too buggy at this stage and are any users of TDE using another one? if so which one do you use? I see that KDE Falcon and Chromium are available in the software center. I'm looking for a light web browser, that's why I tried to use konqueror but I'd choose another lightweight one which is functionning if konqueror doesn't.

Re: Konqueror web browser not functionnal ?

I cant speak for anyone else but I find Konqueror web browser an issue with TDE and I simply dont use it. I tend to use Chromium or Firefox with no issues.
Im running it on a Dell Optiplex 7010 USFF with a third gen Ivy bridge cpu and it runs fine.

No, you can use any regular web browser within TDE.

Thanks for your answers. I'm used to Firefox too but I may go with another browser if one is significantly lighter. Among others, Midori, Falkon or Pale Moon seem to be interesting alternatives. Do any users of them have thoughts or opinions to share on these ?

Re: Konqueror web browser not functionnal ?

Missed mine, google results blank page in konqeror, trinity,Q4OS 5.7.1 https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5152
I havent done much wide ranging browsing with it yet though.

Trinity and Plasma seem use different versions of konq (part of desktop environment) with differrent useragent browser id. Plasma's often seen as chrome or qt, where Trinity's seen as konqeror or khtml. Can change Trininty's browser id on per site basis in konq browser settings, to another limited pre-defined value.

Pale Moon started as fork of Firefox around version 52, if memory serves. Before extension/add-on change. Been updated since. I've not used it much but seemed to work ok in Puppy. I can't speak to others. Been using Firefox on Windows 7 mostly, considerring it for Q4.

Re: Konqueror web browser not functionnal ?

I think conqueror is supposed to be as file manager, that browser function is just to come in here (Q4OS doc, that's why it's offer to install chromium), me, I go to synaptic, install flatpak, search e.g Firefox. or more variants in Mx tool package, slide to flatpak, there will be more to choose...

Re: Konqueror web browser not functionnal ?

Most will find another file manager like Dolphin a lot easier to use and there are so many good browsers right now, but Chromium is still a good option.
