Strange problem that I've been trying to figure out for couple days.
Do search on google, using shortcut gg: or going to google directly and the results page is blank. However document source and preview in editor do show an html, script mostly. Also note javascript errors.
Worked ok in plasma (I believe), and win7 firefox. Tested earlier copy of q4os trinity before tweaking, and now using live q4os-5.7-x64-tde.r1.iso booted via ventoy. Same result. google doesn't like trinity?
Boot up, log in desktop, log in network, start konkqueror, google anything, anyhow.
currently q4os-5.7-x64-tde.r1.iso booted via ventoy
Trinity R14.1.1
Q4OS 5.7.1-n1 (Aquarius)

update/confirm
switched back to windows 7 with firefox, ok
reboot q4os (windows installer), Aquarius, plasma, konqueror web browser , ok
switch to same q4os (log off or reboot), Aquarius, trinity, konqueror web browser, blank page for gooogle results same as live iso, q4os-5.7-x64-tde.r1.iso booted via ventoy
since the installer downloads a fresh copy it's not just the iso copies that i have, it is at least 2 different downloads.
since rebooting from the original iso (via ventoy) it's not personal tweaks as they are not saved.
Just to be clear referring to wether google search results displays ok, or is just a blank page. google main page (before search) is ok.

Your posts are very confusing to me. What should be understood?
Is your problem that if you boot the live image q4os-5.7-x64-tde.r1.iso via Ventoy, then in Konqueror the Google results are blank pages, and that the problem occurs only with this image and only via Ventoy?
In this case, if the issue disappears when you boot the same live image directly from a bootable USB stick (without Ventoy), then the problem is likely not with Q4OS.

Same here hchiper. In regards to Konqueror the browser it has a lot of issues and you might find using another browser more to your liking. Trinity has done a good job with it but overall its age is still showing.

I was trying to be precise, detailed, but guess that did not work. It's the same for all installed (window installer on ntfs) or iso I have, however I boot. I tried another install (ntfs) from before my tweaks, to rule that out. Not my tweaks. Tried booting live iso, it came from separate download then the installed, to rule out that, and it does not save any tweaks.
Apparently, It is how google reads and uses, or fails to do so, the default user agent browser id, I believe it's:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/14.1) KHTML/TDEHTML/14.1.1 (like Gecko)
for this version:
Q4OS 5.7 Aquarius, Trinity R14.1.1 desktop, Konqureror R14.1.1 web browser.
I've not had that problem with google before. And it worked when I logged in using Plasma desktop (same install). Which was confusing. Same OS same Browser, it should work. Nope, Different desktop, different browser id.
My previous, last post here, #3, is my solution. Change the browser id. Just took a while for something simple.

Not sure I like browser and file manager combined. That was the problem with Explorer. I just have not got to installing other browser yet. Still using Firefox 78 in Windows 7, have not updated to last supported version yet. Got side tracked, and making old customizations work in new versions is a hassle. FF98 installed but mostly bare. On Q4...Konk... as I type this. Been trying it out, see what I could do. Layout, colors, menu etc.

Honestly wouldnt use a browser combined with file manager. I use KDE primarily and much prefer having a separate browser and file manager. Why are you still running Win 7? Very insecure OS at this point and app support is few and far between. Good luck with your choices.

A simple misplaced click, something nasty, downloads, installs, and executes. That's why I stopped using IE.
Luddite. Cheap. Lazy. Busy. Distracted. Probably missed a few more. Might still be on my old desktop with 98, or perhaps linux by now. Played with Puppy a bit, but inherited this nice new lappy in 2014. Set up 7 with Classic menu & layout, & MY same warm colors, so it would feel like home.
Slowly working on keeping up, trying new, Q4

As long as you can stay secure thats all that matters. Win7 was a good OS but my favorite was Windows 2000. Q4 will suit you well over time.

The only thing that updates on 7 any more is virus definitions. Seems that either microsoft security essentials does not announce window 7 when requesting updated definitions or they didn't code the server to decline. Same version as was for 10 at the time if memory serves. So that's likely to end soon.
And Firefox when I get round to installing last for win7 version 115.17.0esr, they are well past that now. So that's ended already.
Ran 98 long after microsoft, avg and firefox cut support. Non-functioning & nagging web sites was getting tedious. And could not get puppy to work my dial up (walmart/aol) at the time.
So now I started looking around again at linux. Although if I end up back on dial up again, I suspect I would have same problem again as with puppy. Maybe try some wine.

There are no security updates for Win7, so not sure what youre experiencing. Emergency updates were stopped in January of 2023.
You would receive no virus definitions unless theres a virus app thats trying to access some.

Never mentioned security updates just "The only thing that updates on 7 any more is virus definitions" The OS updates and all else stopped for me in 2020. No extended.
"microsoft security essentials" is the virus scanner, or Windows Defender antivirus is part of it.
definitions created on 1/19/2025
definitions last updated 1/19/2025
So, my guess, still working.

I was referring to both the security updates and virus definitions even though you werent talking about updates directly. It appears security essentials is still updating but with security updates stopped its pretty much a moot point. Win7 is really insecure.

Let me barge in on this: I'm a daily user of Windows -- for historic and work reasons -- currently on WinTen on a couple of rigs. I haven't run a resident anti-virus in over a decade -- if the in-built Defender is excepted. I test new software almost everyday; never had a single infection over that time span. I normally run ClamWin/MalwareBytes/VirusTotal on a discretionary schedule.
Not saying that I won't fall pray to a future attack; just that, if you're a moderately savvy computer user and abide by basic digital hygiene rules, you can easily get away with this on Windows... YMMV though.
BTW, I was a late adopter of 7 but grew fond of it over time, once I was able to massage its usability features to my taste. My previous lappie still runs it and I'd be still using it if the work network hadn't proscribed it.

Windows Defender works very well for most users and in fact tests very well against other apps. I have many pcs running Win10/11 and havent had any issues using the builtin virus protection. I see far fewer pcs these days that have infection than I use to, which surprised me.
