hi there,
im using Q4OS only in VirtualBox. My virtual HD ran out of space and i expanded it in VBox. Then i used the kde partition management to arange the new free space. It works and the virtual HD has a new size. But in Dolphin there is something strange. Dolphin can see the HD and the new size (left side) but can not calculate the remaining free space. Dolphin calculate with the previous size of the HD (right side at the botton of the window).
Is that "normal"? Or did i miss something?

The routine I use - VM OFF - is to expand the size of the vdi first.
Then boot the VM from live media and use gparted to expand/move the partition.
On reboot of the VM it will then see the new sizes correctly. I do not know if kde partition manager does the same tricks but I guess it would.
You might want to try the df command to see if the figures match with Dolphin. Maybe it is an issue with Dolphin...?

all is good...
On my next power up of VB there was an "start job" of 1min 30s.
After that Dolphin is calculating exactly.
.
And I was studying the commands of df before...
.
I guess the system was calculating the new space of the HD ....
.
Thank u 4 ur assistance !

Im astonished that works on a running system ... !!

This "start-job" now comes up on every boot. What is that again ??

Seems something is added to the bootlist (like Autostart in Windows). Is there a possibility to look for for such things?

I just recogniced, that in kde-partitionmanager one option is checked that says: "partitionen standartmäßig ausrichten".
There are 2 partitions on this VHD. The ext4 and the swap-partition.
Do i need this option realy?

You have to be much clearer in describing what you are seeing and where.
The nearest I can get to finding this "partitionen standartmäßig ausrichten" is in kde partition manager > settings> general.
The first entry is Partition Alignment and the box Align Partitions per Default is selected and that is correct.
I have just repeated my original instructions and the result works fine.
So, start up the VM, but use the original iso file (live media) - do not boot the actual VM itself.
Once that has started open Konsole and type (without the ' ')
'sudo apt update' then 'sudo apt install gparted'
Go to the System menu and start Gparted.
You will see a map of the drive and hopefully a space where the VM has been expanded but the storage may not have been.
Click the Resize/Move button and drag the arrow to fill the space and apply.
Once that has done reboot and you should find it is all happy.

OK thank you. Your right... this is the safer way.

tipp: if u boot from life-iso u can easily use kde partition manager to arange the space of the VHD. Works the same.
thx 4 all !!
