Depends what distro your using as many arent that way and depending on what DE youre using you can customize quite a bit.

Oh, for sure. I've tried almost every distro, WM, and DE out there. I always come back to something Debian based with TDE though. IceWM is probably a close second for me.

I prefer KDE due to the customization and overall design but different strokes for different folks.

I also enjoy the custom Gnome Shell with Zorin Core 17.2, nice design and beautiful GUI.
