Installation without user error

Hello,

I had installed q4os from an windows old laptop because it was slow with windows.

On the process of installation, it asks you for creating an user and a password. I didn't want the laptop with a password to work on it so I put an ne for the user and I let in blank the password, but it doesn't work, you may put an password.

So I went back the steps of installation and it shows an screen with all the steps, I was on the user and password one and I skiped it to the next one.

It installed properly and when it started, It asks an user and password, there apears an user that has the name that I have tried to create, but it doesn't have password so I can't login on the laptop.

I tried with a flash drive to install again windows 10 but the screen of installation doesn't appear.

What can I do?

What Q4OS installation media did you use ? What login screen are you experiencing, a screenshot would be helpful ?

I had installed q4os aquarius, trinity, install-cd -64 bit.

You need to type your username "q4os" into the username field, let password empty and click on login button. What will happen ?

It says login failed.

I also can start aquarius on recovery mode. That's all, but windows doesn't appear.

So, if you can start the recovery mode, you should be able to set a password for the user with terminal command:
# passwd q4os
set the password, reboot, try to login and post back

You can also try to switch to console:
Menu > Console login > login with your username and empty password > change your password as described above

If it will not work, we would recommend you to install Q4OS once again, set a password for the first user. You will be able to setup automatic passwordless login from the Welcome screen.

Okay, thank you, but I tried to install it againg and it doesn't appear the installation screen neither the windows one for ereasing q4os and install it

You need to boot from the install media, exactly the same way as you did it before. Tap some keyboard shortcut throughout the boot, for example F11, to get the boot menu table. It differs by hardware, see https://www.q4os.org/dqa014.html#boome

You need to tap some keyboard shortcut throughout the boot, to get the boot menu table. The following list provides the function keys for common computer manufacturers:

Acer - Esc, F9, F12
ASUS - Esc, F8
Compaq - Esc, F9
Dell - F12
EMachines - F12
HP - Esc, F9
Intel - F10
Lenovo - F8, F10, F12
NEC - F5
Packard Bell - F8
Samsung - Esc, F12
Sony - F11, F12
Toshiba - F12

You must tap the function key immediately after turning on the computer. A menu will appear and you can choose to boot from the installation media.

You're welcome. What's a little weird, the installer doesn't allow you to leave the password blank, so you must have screwed it up somehow.

How did you do that ? We are not able to reproduce it, so we assume it's not possible.

While the installation, you have the option of submit and go back, on the step of cration of an user and password, I saw that it doesn't let you to skip the step or let the password in blank, so I just went back and appeared an menu that sayed something like: where would you like to continue the installation? And there were all the steps of the instalation, I was on creation of user and password and I selected the next step
