For once I agree with one of their lists. Clementine is hands down the best I've ever used on any OS. Foobar2000 comes close, but clementine's just so much easier than Foobar, that I'll take it first.

Same here, as Clementine for me is the best Ive ever used. I also use Audacious with my older systems when I need something lighter.

Update: Unfortunately, VLC build 3.x.x became worse, than build 2.x.x

1. Clementine
2. Amarok (default, ha)
3. Cmus
4. Audacious

To me, a music player who can not play midi files should not be number 1 .

Audacious can, with amidi plugin
Deadbeef can with freepats plugin
VLC can with .xx...plugin ( forgot name )

your 1, 2, 3 and 5 can not

Thats why I use both Clementine and Audacious as between the two I can pretty much play any files I choose.

I'm a fan of Quod Libet. My collection of music is fairly large and not all players like to scale. Overall, it has a simple interface, but also some great builtin tagging capabilities that are also available externally as Ex Falso (companion software available bundled or separately).

I've got over 600 gb of music and Clementine just can't cope. It chokes almost immediately. Quod Libet is fine.

I actually really like Lollypop Music Player. I never make party lists or play lists etc. just listen to whole albums. Lollypop allows me to simply scan through album covers and start something playing within a couple of clicks. Lovely.

You might be surprised what VLC is capable of doing and it allows you to create a music library very easily.

From what I understand, Clementine is a fork of Amarok 1.4 (before it followed KDE down the "Plasma road" and shot itself in the foot). My favorite player is still Amarok-trinity, which holds true to the 1.4 build.

Yes it is a fork of Amarok 1.4. Never liked Amarok with KDE and use Clementine with Q4OS KDE presently.

And Strawberry is a fork of Clementine that seeks to slim and trim Clementine into a faster, more responsive player.

Clementine and qmmp are two friends of mine on the road, the best advantage for me is that they perfectly support a CUE+File.

I don't have a lot of music on my computer. Ozzy, Foghat, and Black Sabbath mostly. I like simple music software. I use Deadbeef.
