Memoria swap

Salve a tutti, ho conosciuto da poco l'universo "Linux" ed ho appena installato q4os.
Grazie a Linux sto rivitalizzando un vecchio portatile con  1 giga di ram. Ho appena ordinato 2 ram da 1 giga ciascuno per migliorare un po' le prestazioni ma ho visto che si può aumentare anche la memoria swap in caso di più applicazioni aperte contemporaneamente. Vorrei sapere come verificare se ho già disponibile un po' di memoria swap e come fare per aumentarne un po' le dimensioni, magari di un  paio di giga.
