Generally everything works out of the box, the only thing to do is to select your network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) in the list displayed when you click on the network icon in the taskbar and enter the password for that network.

Except that often when I click on the icon to select the network it disappears and I am forced to restart so that it reappears
to finally select my network

Strange that the network icon disappears. Could it be that the network adapter has failures so that the system doesn't detect it anymore and removes the icon?
More likely if your network adapter is an USB dongle.
