Could not install it rom the software center. The process hanged itself after completing 71%. Updateing system cahce never completed.
OK.
I looked in the forum.
Uninstalled update manager with the software center. That worked. Rebooted. And tried the following:
$ cd /tmp/
$ wget q4os.org/downloads_app5/setup_q4os-updater_4.1.1-a1_all.esh
$ sudo qsinst /tmp/setup_q4os-updater_4.1.1-a1_all.esh
That worked. No error messages whatsoever.
But when I start the Update Manager, the only thing i get is a window with 4 alternatives of which the first is selected by default.
After closing that, nothing happens.
In Linux Mint the update manager is an icon in the bottom right corner. But not in q4OS.
I'm mindful. Is the Update Manager working at all?
Today I made a manual update.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
That found an update for chromium.
But the q4OS Update Manager has not reacted.
What to think???

We are not able to reproduce such issues. Please provide more info for us to be able to investigate.
- Q4OS version and iso file you used for installation
- Optionally follow instructions https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502

I downloaded q4os-5.4-x64-tde.r2.iso on february 25, 2024. Once only.
I then wrote it to an 64 GB USB stick. I strongly suspect that something went wrong at that point.
With that USB stick I installed and got problems.
I have also made an DVD from that same ISO-file and used it to install on another computer. No problems there.
Yesterday I wrote the USB stick again on another computer than the one I used the first time. Used it today (March 3, 2024) to install
the first computer (the one with problems) again from scratch today. One (minor?) problem occurred. One of the last things I installed was
XnViewMP-linux-x64.deb. Updating the system cache hanged at about 71%, but it seems that XnView installed correctly itself dispite that. Played arround with XnView a bit. No problems encountered. Beats me.

Yes, if the installer hangs at this phase, application is already installed in complete. Nonetheless, it shouldn't hang at all, so we could try to investigate, if you run in terminal:
$ desktop_iupdate.exu
$ tdebuildsycoca
and post back the output.

The first command produced this:
[WinId: 31457295] >> Refresh desktop done.
The second command produced this:
[2024/03/04 13:45:43.044] [tdebuildsycoca] Reusing existing tdesycoca.
