XNview's screen goes black as the .mp4 file 'loads'. Then entire system locks up.
The cursor is blinking. Ctrl + F12 blanks the cursor & locks the keyboard.
I'm using an iMAC (sorry, no lites) Hold power-button for 20 seconds. Re-boot.
This is second occurance of this problem. Simply delete the .mp4 files,,, grin-and-bear-it.
How / where do I remove .mp4 as xnview's default application ?
Note: I have no interest in whatever the .mp4 file contains. Its simple email trash.
Any help is appreciated.

It depends on the desktop you're using. You didn't specify.
For Plasma:
System Configuration > Applications > File Associations
then type the file type "mp4" to search, click the one you're interested in, select the associated application to remove and click the "Delete" button.

Running Plasma 5.27 ??? Do not have "System Configuration > Applications > File Associations".
Found in "System settings", "File Associations". Then set "Left Click Action (only blah, blah) to "Show file in separate viewer".
Problem went away.
Thanks for your help.
