Hi guys, I am on a dell latitude D430 that I have fixed up really good. I have one issue with the bluetooth. I can not get the bluetooth manager to start because it said connection to Bluez has failed. I tried using the WL driver but it does not seem to see the wireless card installed. I have a broadcom 4311 card in the laptop. With the b43 driver I can use the wireless now and wifi works great but not bluetooth.

Please try to install "Blueman" application from the Q4OS Software center and post back.

Thank you for the response.
I did and that window is what popped up. I reinstalled and the same thing just happened and I am using the b43 driver in use atm.
I tried to start it in the terminal and got this:
shawn@shawn-latituded430:~$ bluemon
bash: bluemon: command not found
shawn@shawn-latituded430:~$ blueman
bash: blueman: command not found
shawn@shawn-latituded430:~$ bluetooth manager
bluetooth = none (no device)

Well, run commands in terminal:
$ sudo service bluetooth status
$ sudo journalctl -u bluetooth
and post the output here.

So I googled the errors that came up and entered some commands from this page https://askubuntu.com/questions/779911/ … ctive-dead:
sudo systemctl status bluetooth.service
shawn@shawn-latituded430:~$ sudo systemctl status bluetooth.service

What I think changed it was "sudo modprobe btusb" or "sudo systemctl enable bluetooth.service" maybe both. I also ran "systemctl start bluetooth". I suspect that the broadcom bluetooth is seen as a usb connection for some reason. I still can not get the bluetooth manager to open yet though.
Update: it seems a combination of those commands gets the above result
shawn@shawn-latituded430:~$ sudo rfkill list

1: dell-wwan: Wireless WAN

Could it be that I need the wl driver that for some reason is not working?

I downloaded the D430 manual from Dell website.
I see that Bluetooth was optional on this model and had to be ordered at the time the laptop was ordered.
You should have a look at the invoice or open the laptop (see user's guide) to check whether a BT card is present. The presence of a BT LED indicator is not an indication that a BT card is really present inside the laptop.

You nailed that right on the head. I assumed the bluetooth module was in the broadcom card but it is not. I have two of these notebooks and I tore them down and rebuilt them and combined the best parts. Neither had the bluetooth module even though they have the connectors. One the laptop switch did not work, one the led lights did not work, etc.
Thank you so much!
