Please check you have switched NumLock on. You can also try to type your password to the Username field to check you type it correct.

It could also be a keyboard problem.
In the case of the French Canada keyboard which I use, I have noticed the installation program installs the French-France keyboard which is AZERTY, while the FR-CA is QWERTY (the install program installs the wrong keyboard even if I do specify Canada during the install procedure). So I need to go and change the default keyboard just after install in order to be able to enter my password.
Naturally, when trying to enter a password and the keyboard isn't what you think, it doesn't work very well!!!
As a suggestion, maybe an option to be able to see the actual password entered (instead of ****) could help identifying this sort of problem.

You could also switch a keyboard layout to the US layout using the "Alt+Space" shortcut. If you want to test and see what the keyboard outputs actually, you can type a sample text into the username field.

To q4osteam: there is probably a bug in the install procedure. As I mentioned above, when I specify French language and Canada as country, the install nevertheless chooses the French-French AZERTY keyboard layout instead of the French-Canadian. Maybe you could look it up, although admittedly, this is a quite minor issue.

Thanks, we will take a look on that.

@cjoliprsf
We are investigating the issue, however unable to reproduce. The procedure:
- Use the "q4os-3.8-x64.r4.iso" installation media
- Boot in Virtualbox, network cable disconnected
- Select French language in the "Select your language" combo-box
- Run the Calamares installer "Install Q4OS"
- Select timezone/region "America/Toronto"
- Let selected keyboard "French (Canada)"/"Defaut", it's the QWERTY layout
- Proceed installation
- Reboot
- Login screen - keyboard QWERTY - Ok
- Login to Plasma - keyboard "ca" QWERTY - Ok
- Login to Trinity - keyboard "ca" QWERTY - Ok
It would be helpful, if you would specify steps to reproduce the issue.

The procedure I do is:
- use q4os-2.7-x64-instcd.r5.iso
- Boot in Virtualbox, network cable connected
- Classic install
- Select language: French / Country: Canada / keyboard: French Canadian (default)
- Set user name and password (at this time, the keyboard is QUERTY)
- Select time zone: East
- Proceed to disk partitioning and installation of base system; Reboot
- Login screen, the keyboard then is FR-CA (this is OK)
- screen scaling: cancel
- download language pack: YES
- Profiler: keep "pure" system with TDE
Now at this stage the keyboard is AZERTY. Open a terminal and type something and you will see. So I need to perform the following:
- Open configuration center and keyboard layout - I can see there the FR-FR keyboard is installed, so I need to remove it and replace by the FR-CA.
What is interesting there is there a QWERTY keyboard active for the login screen, but once we are in Trinity, it is now a FR-FR AZERTY keyboard that is active.
I now realize I was wrong in my previous post - the problem doesn't arise at the login screen but further down the line when Trinity loads. And if one enters password in a sudo command for example, it won't work.

Thanks for the exact description. We can confirm the issue for Q4OS 2.7 Scorpion as well as 3.8 Centaurus. It will be addressed in one of the next Q4OS releases.

Same problem here. Constantly can't login after installation, password is correct but system is stuck. Looks like bug
