[SOLVED] Synaptic on desktop

See attached.
I already have Synaptic inside the menu which is fine for the limited time I use it. I don't know how to remove it when booting up.
Any help appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED] Synaptic on desktop

It would seem that you have synaptic in autostart somewhere.

The most likely place you have put it will be in be  ~/.trinity/Autostart

You'll find either a symlink or a copy of the synaptic.desktop file

Remove it.

Re: [SOLVED] Synaptic on desktop

Thanks. That worked. However what remains is a file on the desktop called '.directory'. How do I stop that loading on boot?

Re: [SOLVED] Synaptic on desktop

.directory files are used to provide the icon information for the directory in which they reside.

If you look at the other folders on your machine you'll see them (they're hidden files) but can be read as text.

Right click on Desktop>Configure Desktop>Behaviour>File Icons> Uncheck 'Show hidden files'>Apply
