Hello to all.
I am enjoying the beautiful experience of Q4OS on my antic PC. My computer is way too old that it goes back to 2007 (bios date). However it was a monster of its time and I guess it was used as a gaming PC. I have no problem with it except being a bit sluggish and slow. I am assuming if I replace the harddrive with an SSD harddrive and put a 2 GB ram on the empty slot (it has two slot for Ram and only one of them is used) it will be as good as a new PC with q4OS trinity DE.
I am not a tech guy and want to know after 15 years are new SSD drives still competible with such old motherboards? Or should I quit the idea?
Some of the specifics are as fallow:
CPU: Dual Core Intel Core2 Duo E4500 (-MCP-) speed/min/max: 1200/1200/2200 MHz Kernel: 4.19.0-20-686-pae i686 Up: 6m
Mem: 574.9/2015.7 MiB (28.5%) Storage: 232.89 GiB (45.3% used) Procs: 150 Shell: bash 5.0.3 inxi: 3.0.32
Motherboard: ASUSTEK P5KPL-VM
LGA 775 (Socket T) micro ATX:
Intel, LGA 775 (Socket T), 4 GB, GMA 3100, Gigabit Ethernet, micro ATX
Can you advise a SSD model also a RAM memory model suitable for this motherboard?
Thanks.

If it has a SATA connector -- which I think you must -- you're good to go the SSD way. Although YMMV -- too few details...

Thank you Midas for the tip. I will open the case (already in bad shape) and take a look at it.

Also you can upgrade the processor, your motherboard supports a lots of 775 family and they are very cheap this days
Q4os machines:------Hp dv6 3040us, 4gb ram, AMD Phenom II N830, HDD 320gb-------Hp mini 110-3712la, 1gb ram, Intel Atom N455, HDD 500gb. -----------I'm learning english, sorry.

Yes, that motherboard has 4 SATA ports in the lower right corner. Depending on the revision, they may be black, red, or 2 may be each color. As far as the manual is concerned, they're all SATA-3 ports regardless of their color. Any basic 2.5" SATA sold now will work fine. On a super quick search of NewEgg, 2 that I like simply because I trust the companies that make them are

Now, I don't know what size you want, so went with a good size to ensure there's more than 1 NAND package for performance. Both those drivers are very much low end entry level drives. If they get beat on with heavy writing, they WILL have their performance tank due to being a DRAM-less design. However, for BASIC usage, which is sounds like that's all your really doing, they'd be fine.
As far as RAM, it takes DDR2. It's been a while since it was made, but get it so that you'll have 2x2GB DDR2 800 modules for max ram. If you don't currently have a 2GB DIMM, just get 2 and replace the existing one. You can find it still on NewEgg or Amazon, but check your local classifieds such as Craigslist, you MAY find someone selling some for cheap, doubly if you're only needing a single 2GB dimm to bring it up to 4GB.
Just to be aware, if you wanted to increase the performance a bit more, that motherboard IS certified for use with the Core2 Quads if you were to find one for sale for cheap.

Excellent tips, tlmiller76, if I may say so.

Sorry for being late, I was on a business trip. Your tips are more than excellent and I will definitely go with it. Now I have super duper fast SSD supported Asus laptop (Q4OS Plasma) but no laptop matches the productivity or the comfort that a good old desktop PC gives.
