Hello,
I have the 32Bit version of Q4OS running on a 2006 Dell Inspiron 1300
1.7 Ghz Pentium M CPU
60Gb IDE hard drive
A massive 2Gb of memory :-)
In Konsole I am trying to install the Debian Games Light package. This is some of the top Debian based games that don't require much in the way of graphics.
I firstly enter sudo apt-get update (which is successful)
Then I enter sudo apt-get install games-finest-light only to be greeted with the error message "Unable to locate package games-finest-light"
Just wondering if there is a different way of doing things these days? I used to install this package in this way.
Regards,
Paul

Use
$ apt show games-finest
to check it is the package you are looking for and install it if it is.
I made a --dry-run install and it is not light at all (huge amount of packages to be installed)!
The exact package you are looking for was available in Debian 9 but Q4OS is based on Debian 11.

Thank you for that.
I think you are right.
A check of games-finest shows it is available but games-finest-light is not.
That is a pity because I believe the "light" refers to those games that don't require a hardware accelerated video card. I understand it is not at all light in terms of how much space it takes up on the hard drive.
I just wanted to put a good selection of low resource games on this old laptop to give to a neighbors child. It definitely does not have a hardware accelerated video card.
Still it can connect to the internet with Palemoon browser and has the basic Abiword - laptop still usable after 17 years - whoo hooo.
Thanks again,
Paul

Hello Paul, does this remain unsolved? no lightweight games pack for old hardware running Q4OS? I have such a computer as yourse, for which Q4OS is the perfect alternative to Windows XP.

Exactly what I needed, and it's simple indeed! Is the game Prince of Percia available like that as well? how?
Edit: I read that it is not available, not even a demo, because Ubisoft holds the copyrights.
